
{"id":16583,"date":"2019-06-20T11:29:11","date_gmt":"2019-06-20T11:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.museunacional.cat\/?p=16583"},"modified":"2019-06-25T12:54:37","modified_gmt":"2019-06-25T12:54:37","slug":"peccata-mundi-the-ceremony-performance-by-miralda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.museunacional.cat\/en\/peccata-mundi-the-ceremony-performance-by-miralda\/","title":{"rendered":"Peccata Mundi, the ceremony-performance by Miralda"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Llu\u00eds Alabern<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.museunacional.cat\/en\/activities\/peccata-mundi-installation-miralda\">Peccata Mundi<\/a> is an artistic ceremony-performance-installation,\nthought up by &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Antoni_Miralda\">Antoni Miralda<\/a> (Vel\u00e1zquez Awards for Plastic Arts, 2018) based\naround a huge bedspread which reproduces the Agnus Dei from the Romanesque\nmural painting of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.museunacional.cat\/en\/colleccio\/apse-sant-climent-de-taull\/mestre-de-taull\/015966-000\">Sant\nCliment de Ta\u00fcll<\/a><\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This enormous tapestry was created in 1989 as a wedding present for the symbolic marriage that united the Statue of Liberty of New York, with the Monument of Columbus of Barcelona (<em>Honeymoon Project<\/em>, 1986-1992). The piece, of 18m x 15 metres, was once again exhibited to the public in the Sala Oval on the occasion of the exhibition <em>Agnus dei. Romanesque art and the artists of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century <\/em>(1995). It is therefore almost 25 years since the great bedspread was last seen, in that exhibition organised to celebrate the opening of the Romanesque Art Collection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AVY6tLDlxHA\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Peccata Mundi <\/em>is an opportunity to see this colossal piece once again. Antoni Miralda, fascinated by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.museunacional.cat\/en\/colleccio\/lamb-apocalypse-agnus-dei\/miralda\/200823-000\"><em>Apocalyptic Lamb<\/em><\/a>, due to its shades of blue, for the seven eyes that from the apse of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.museunacional.cat\/en\/colleccio\/arch-apocalyptic-lamb-sant-climent-de-taull\/mestre-de-taull\/015806-000\">Sant Climent de Ta\u00fcll<\/a> absolve the sinners of the world, it has become the master of ceremonies of a performance-installation that has illuminated the Sala Oval of the Museu Nacional for four days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"854\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.museunacional.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sant-climent-de-taull.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16562\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.museunacional.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sant-climent-de-taull.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/blog.museunacional.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sant-climent-de-taull-300x256.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.museunacional.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sant-climent-de-taull-768x656.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.museunacional.cat\/es\/colleccio\/arco-del-cordero-apocaliptico-de-sant-climent-de-taull\/mestre-de-taull\/015806-000\"> Arco del Cordero apocal\u00edptico de Sant Climent de Ta\u00fcll<\/a><\/em>, hacia 1123<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Musical installation during the days prior to the culinary performance of Saturday 6th April, <em>Peccata Mundi<\/em> counts on the symbolic resurrection of the organ of the Sala Oval (hand in hand with the music of J.S.Bach performed by Juan de la Rubia on the Walcker organo of the Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana) and the illumination of the tubes in shades of turquoise.&nbsp; The \u201cresuscitated\u201d organ of the Sala Oval, dialogue with the overwhelming presence of the <em>Agnus Dei<\/em> tapestry, and seven large-sized tables reproducing the eyes of the mystical figure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.museunacional.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/orgue-sala-oval-mnac.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"648\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.museunacional.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/orgue-sala-oval-mnac.jpg\" alt=\"\u00d3rgano de la Sala Oval del Museu Nacional\" class=\"wp-image-16565\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.museunacional.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/orgue-sala-oval-mnac.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/blog.museunacional.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/orgue-sala-oval-mnac-300x194.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.museunacional.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/orgue-sala-oval-mnac-768x498.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>\u00d3rgano de la Sala Oval del Museu Nacional. Photo: Marta M\u00e9rida <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Saturday. From the early hours of the morning a lamb is cooked on the embers in the main fa\u00e7ade of the Museu Nacional. Two twin altar boys bless the cooking with incense burners. The public starts entering. Photo: Marta M\u00e9rida <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At 5 o\u2019clock in the afternoon, the countertenor Jordi Dom\u00e8nech accompanied on the organ by Dani Espasa, moves us all with pieces by G.Ligeti, and a new Agnus Dei, that of the <em>Missa Lux et Origo<\/em>. A work in which everything is excess, and in which countless stories are crossed. Inspired by the &#8220;founding piece&#8221; of the National Museum, the apse of<em> Sant Climent de Ta\u00fall<\/em>. But also connected with the recent history of the city and the country, a work that links this corner of Europe with the Ibero-American communities, and whose magnitude finally fills with major art a space that has always resisted us, the also phenomenal Sala Oval.
